The reason that I enjoy the Advent and Lent photo-a-day challenges is that they force me to be actively aware of the world around me. It was not really a surprise that there is a lot of red in our world. But when you spend the day looking for the “perfect” image to capture the essence of red, you become acutely aware of the influence this color carries.
Again, no surprises here. Red screams, “HEY! Pay attention! Something important is going on here!” I guess that this is a very good way to enter Advent. “Hey! Pay attention! God is about to break into our world… again (and again and again)!!!”
