Kingdom
I am spending the weekend with our church‘s youth group attending a synod wide youth event for high school students. The theme for the weekend deals with breaking down walls. And what can better symbolize the power of a king than the strength of his castle (his very real walls).
Through the story of the Good Samaritan and the woman at the well and the healing of the lepers, we see that Christ came into this world to turn this notion upside down.
He was born a king, but not of this world. His first walls were those of a stable. He spent the rest of his life/ministry teaching that real power comes with the destruction of barriers, not their construction.
Our Father who art in heaven…
THY kingdom come
THY will be done…
And may the wall come tum-ba-lin’ down.
