Adversity
We live a life of relative ease and comfort in this country.
I struggled, therefore, with how to best depict adversity. Had I had the time, I could have easily found adverse conditions by going into D.C. Had the weather been better, I could have found at the corner of 355 and Shady Grove Rd at least one or two homeless doing their best to find a kind sole to spare a buck or two—but apparently the weather was too adverse for them to be out of whatever shelter they might have.
In the end, I buckled and went with one of the minor adversities in my life—traffic. Hopefully, I will remember this Advent season (and beyond) that in the big scheme of things my hassle with traffic really is minor.
