Some days the assigned word has me flummoxed. I have no clue how I’m going to capture it. I simply have to hope that my eyes are open enough to see the word when it presents itself. Some days the assigned word is a cake walk. I set out for the day confident that I’m going to get my word. Today was one of those days…
There is a pond (ok, a water retention pit) just off of the parking lot where we’ve been parking our cars lately. The pond always has a flock of geese swimming on it or walking around its perimeter. They’re there in the morning. They’re there in the evening. Surely I could just head our and take a quick photo. But lo and behold… the pond was frozen over today. No geese. No photo. This would be a day I would simply have to hope for the best.
And there they were, a flock of sparrows darting around between cars in the upper level of the Home Depot parking lot. At times there were 20-30 birds all concentrated in a single spot between cars or all sitting on the railing or on the banks of carts. Every time I got close enough to grab the photo, off they flew to a new location. Eventually, I was able to get close enough to this small gathering that felt comfortable enough to allow me to get close enough.
I’ll take what I can get… we are not really in control.
