Psalm 119: פ Pe(a)

129 Your teachings are wonderful;
    I obey them with all my heart.
130 The explanation of your teachings gives light
    and brings wisdom to the ignorant.
131 In my desire for your commands
    I pant with open mouth.
132 Turn to me and have mercy on me
    as you do on all those who love you.

The second verse jumps out at me right now. “The explanation of your teachings gives light and brings wisdom to the ignorant.”  But what do we do when someone we love states, “I don’t care about studying the bible.  I know that what it says is completely true.  I don’t care to try and understand it all.”?  I guess all we can do is move on.   But what do we do when this response was an attempt to explain why understanding the core truths of the bible is important to me and the person tells you point blank, “I don’t care about any of that stuff.”??  I guess all we can do is move on and not push the point.   But (and here is my exasperation) what do we do if they persist in shoving their way of thinking in your face even after you explicitly stated why their line of thinking makes you uncomfortable???  I guess the fourth verse kicks in… we ask God to show us mercy and to remind us that they fall under His love as well.  But damn, that’s taxing.
