Imagine for a moment that you are a swimmer. (OK, Anna, I know you don’t have to imagine this.)
Imagine that you arrived at the pool to find that your lane, your swimming path, was something other than straight. It would be rather unsettling. The only way to cope would be to keep your mind focus on the objective (the other wall). Yep, it will be a challenge, but if you choose not to swim because things aren’t as you expect, you don’t stand a chance of completing your goal.
Just a simple metaphor produced by the collision of the word for the day and a typical Saturday morning for the parent of a swimmer.
