Day 2 – Rule

Rule

day2-rule

We live in a world of rules.  They are everywhere.

Most of the rules make a lot of sense.  (Could you imagine what driving would be like if didn’t have any traffic laws?)

Some of them have outlived their usefulness.  (Who cares which side of the street I tie up my donkey?)

Some of them are simply ludicrous.  (I’m sure you can think of plenty of these.)

Some ensure justice.

Others repress.

Some are imposed on us.

Some we impose on ourselves.

What does this have to do with Advent?

Advent is a time for preparation for the future—a time for reflection on the current state of our lives.

What unnecessary rules do we put on ourselves (and others) that impede our ability to move forward?

What rules are we missing (ignoring) that could help us to better shape our goals?

If we want to live our lives as God intended…  If we want to live our lives to their fullest potential… We need to take stock every once in a while of those rules which shape us.
